SUMMIT, NJ - Runners and walkers will again take to the streets of the Hilltop City as Overlook Medical Center and the Summit Police Athletic League (PAL) host the second annual “Making a Difference 5K," June 9, beginning at 9 a.m. The event's proceeds will Benefit the Tarentino family and support Summit PAL community programs.

Consisting of two separate events -- a 5K run and a one-mile walk / fun run -- the "Making a Difference 5K" honors the legacy of Summit Police Detective Matthew Tarentino, who passed away just over one year ago, and is designed.to accommodate participants of varying levels of interest and ability.

Tarentino -- himself an avid runner -- was a main catalyst and the face of the Summit Police Department's community policing initiatives and, as such, was omnipresent in and around the Summit, especially in the Summit Public Schools.
