At the July 9 meeting of Common Council many questions about the Park Line were answered, but one important comment needs correction. The consultant’s statement that the Park Line is 2.5 miles long was incorrect. As a result his cost estimate was incorrect. Here are the facts:

The Park Line is 1.2 miles long. The total estimated cost is $1.0 to $1.5 million, of which $400,000 has already been raised. Less than $100,000 has been spent to date, most of which was for a feasibility study and other costs allocable to the whole project. Phase 1 expenses have been minimal because enthusiastic volunteers performed much of the hard labor.

Finally, as has been stated repeatedly, all funding to build the Park Line is in the form of generous donor contributions, not tax dollars.
