SUMMIT, NJ - A pedestrian was struck while crossing Broad Street -- at the intersection of Broad and Chestnut Streets -- resulting in the victim being transported by Summit EMS to Morristown Medical Center.
Eileen Cunningham, 65 years of age and a resident of the Summit senior housing complex, was in the marked crosswalk at approximately 7:06 p.m. January 11 when she was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet van driven by Freeman Poquee, 65, of Newark. A summons was issued to Poquee for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The extent of Cunningham's injures and her current condition have not been disclosed. The incident is being investigated by the Summit Police Department traffic unit accident investigation team.
