Perfect Against Union: Summit H.S. Gymnastics Shines in 'Senior Night' Victory

SUMMIT, NJ - Senior co-captains Abby Claus, Alysia Lopez and Kiera Little swept the All-Around, and the Hilltoppers earned a team-high vault score as the Summit High School Varsity Gymnastics team swept aside Union, 106.85 - 95.825, on 'Senior Night' at The Connection.

Claus earned a career high vault score of 9.225, which was part of her season-high All-Around total of 36.45). Sophomore Caroline Griffith and Little earned scores that qualify them to join Claus and Lopez as All-Around competitors at the NJSIAA North II Sectional Championship November 5.

There, they will be joined by event specialists Ginny Collins, who is qualified on bars, beam and floor, and Grace Bauman who is qualified on floor.

Against the Farmers, Lopez took the vault and beam competitions, with matching scores of 9.25, while Claus claimed the bars and floor exercise, earning scores of 9.125 and 9.2, respectively.

Freshman Julia Ippolito made her varsity debut on vault and floor.

02/01/2018, 7:26 am - FD dispatched to Route 78 East Bound mile marker 47.2 for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment and injuries. On arrival both the Springfield and Summit Fire Departments set up for extrication. The vehicle was chocked to stabilize the vehicle. EMS performed patient care. A hose line was stretched for possible fire suppression by the Berkeley Heights FD.
