Proving one person can make a difference, Summit resident and high school student Sofi Faris partnered with Summit-based Family Promise to found 'Stage Strong'.

Formed with a goal to make performing arts training accessible to youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn and perform, 'Stage Strong' sees Family Promise residents and graduates take classes taught by teens who have experience in theatre and the performing arts.

The classes, which draw children ranging from 4 to 16 years of age, are held weekly at the Family Promise of Union County Day Center in Elizabeth and are designed for kids who are interested in any facet of the performing arts, including theatre, dance and singing, or want to take part in the creative process. 'Stage Strong' offers group and private sessions to kids preparing for auditions or who prefer to learn on a one to one level.
