Pitch Perfect: Summit Soccer Club's U-11 Boys, U-9 Girls Find Tournament Glory; U-9 Boys Reach Final to Claim Medal

SUMMIT, NJ - While some opted for the backyard barbecue and others matriculated to The Shore, dozens of Summit Soccer Club families postponed their Memorial Day Weekend traditions and headed to area soccer tournaments. The Summit Soccer Club was no exception, and they mined gold at both the long running Cougar Soccer tournament in Maplewood as well as the STA tournament in Morris Plains.       

Summit City won the gold bracket of the 36th annual Cougar Soccer Club Memorial Day Tournament. The U-11 Boys beat the hosts to start the tournament before battling to a draw with Centercourt FC from Gillette. 'City' then beat World Class FC from Orangetown, NY, in the final game to ensure victory. Summit City’s defense was stout conceding only two goals in three games.

Sebastian Arias, Akira Bofinger, Thomas Campbell, Vincent DeFabio, Quinn Dillon, Cade Gilbert, Lucas Gomez, Henrique Guicardi, Kevin Hendrie, Steven Louiselle, Dean Mauriello, Alberth Rojas, and Allan Umana. 'City' is trained by Darren Shimwell, who also serves as Summit Soccer Club’s Boys Director of Coaching. 

Summit Sparks also walked away as champions from the STA Memorial Day Tournament.  The U-9 girls defeated teams from Jefferson and Morris United to take the title, scoring eight goals in the two matches to ensure themselves of the gold medal.

The Summit Sparks roster includes:

Campbell Clark-Schoeb, Elsie Fosgate, Caroline Gale, Haidyn Knight, Sophia McBride, Anne Grace McGovern, Tanya Patel, Julia Rendleman, Anna Smoragiewicz, Kallan Stern, and Lucille Zacharias.  Sparks are trained by Lewish Bush of United Soccer Academy.  

Summit Bayern also competed in the STA Memorial Day Tournament. The U-9 boys bested teams from Princeton, Morris Elite and Watchung Hills on their way to a second-place finish.  The goal meisters scored 19 goals in only four matches.

The Summit Bayern roster includes:

Alexandre Fournier, James Grainger, Otis Hamner, Robbie Kievit, William Livitt, Brian O'Neill, Eric Outwater, Caden Post, Benjamin Rosano, Andrew Smallwood, and Wyatt Williamson.  The Bayern team is trained by Calum Sinclair of United Soccer Academy.
