Professor Ben Nelson Speaks at COS-SJCC April 19

Professor Ben Nelson

On Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 7 p.m., Professor Ben Nelson will present a talk entitled The Devils Brigades: Fundamentalism and the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse at Congregation Ohr Shalom – Summit Jewish Community Center (COS-SJCC).  He will discuss fundamentalism and its religious, ideological and political aspects.  

Prof. Benjamin Nelson is Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature at Farleigh Dickinson University.  He received both his B.A. degree and his M.F.A. from Columbia University.  While at Farleigh Dickinson, he received the Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching.  

Prof. Nelson has published extensively about theater and film and is the author of critical biographies of two leading American dramatists: Tennessee Williams: the Man & His Work and Arthur Miller: Portrait of a Playwright. 

Congregation Ohr Shalom is delighted to welcome Prof. Nelson who lectures extensively about American Jewish literature, Israeli literature and the literature of the Holocaust. In 2005, he received the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Educators Award.
