GREENSBORO, NC - Twenty Summit High School Track and Field Team members capped a stellar 2018 season by smashing three school records and earning 13 medals at the New Balance Nationals held on the campus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

The best of the best in high school track and field competed during the three-day competition, which included Hilltoppers entered in nine relays and three individual events.

School records in the Boys' 1600 and 800 Sprint Medley Relay (SMR) records fell, as did the Kent Place Boulevard campus' mark in the Javelin, while the girls eclipsed their own Shuttle Hurdle Record. Medals were earned in the Girls 4x100, Boys 800 and 1600 SMR and the Long Jump.

Dorian 'DJ' Jackson placed ninth overall in the Championship Division Javelin -- the second best New Jersey performance in the event -- breaking his own school record with a throw of 188-08. The senior came back on Sunday and jumped personal best in this competition of 23-02.5 in the Emerging Elite Long Jump to take the Silver medal.

The Boys’ 1600 SMR team of Max Jackson, Matt Kohaut, Jack Bunting and Jacob Pantoya smashed a record that had stood for eight years by a full three seconds, clocking a 3:31.54 and earning the Silver Medal in the event, the first 1600 SMR medal at Nationals by the Maroon and White.

The 800 SMR soon followed, breaking their record set earlier this year by three seconds as well.  The group of Joe Lusardi, Sam Malnati, Max Jackson and Jack Bunting clocked a 1:34.30, good for fourth at Nationals.

The 4x100 Team of Aaliyah Corrica, Icisys Sadler, Mariana Peñuela and Sara Peñuela closed out their tremendous campaign with a fourth place finish and a medal in the Emerging Elite event -- Summit’s third in the last four years -- with a 48.25.

To cap things off, the Girls’ Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team of Sadler, Ciara Lawlor, Kerry Kovar and Sophie Piron dropped a season best and new school record in the Shuttle Hurdles, crossing the line in 1:03.02, 19th overall (NJ #8) in the Championship Division.
