Members of the City of Summit Fire and Police Departments, along with Summit EMS personnel solemnly stand before the nation's colors as Fire Chief Eric Evers and Deputy Fire Chief Donald Nelson address a gathering of residents and elected officials -- all of whom assembled outside the Fire Headquarters to honor those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.
During the ceremony, Evers said, "We remember with unwavering gratitude the first responders and members of the military that heroically gave their lives to protect others and continue to mourn with their families... We can honor these brave and heroic souls by staying positive and focused on the important things in life like family, kindness, compassion, respect and love for one another. As we continue to heal and honor the memories of those who are no longer with us, let us also remember those who still struggle. They are always in our hearts and never far from our thoughts."
