SUMMIT, NJ - After a more than two months-long renovation -- an initiative which focused on updating the entire dining room, revamping the floor plan, and expanding the bar -- Winberie’s Restaurant & Bar has reopened in Summit.
The restaurant had been closed since New Year's Eve.
“Our guests will immediately see the physical changes we’ve made to the restaurant but will not find any differences in the quality of the food or service,” said Jim Owens, general manager.
More than three tons of wooden planking were used on the new floor in the restaurant, which is located in the Summit Opera House building. The new look and feel of the restaurant is intended to pay homage to the building’s 125-year history. The Summit Opera House was built in 1893 and has been home to Winberie’s Restaurant & Bar since 1985.
The restaurant is part of Cleveland, OH-based Select Restaurants, Inc., which owns a number of restaurants and taverns across the U.S., including Winberie's locations in Princeton and Oak Park, IL.
