Rosalie Greenberg, M.D. Wins Exemplary Psychiatrist Award

Rosalie Greenberg, M.D., a board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist whose private practice is located in Summit, New Jersey accepted the 2012 NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award recognizing the remarkable work she has done in her field.

Started in 1990, the Exemplary Psychiatrist Awards program allows NAMI members, NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates throughout the country to honor publicly the exceptional contributions that many psychiatrists make to improve the lives of people living with mental illness. All of the nominations are submitted through a NAMI State Organization or NAMI Affiliate office.  Many psychiatrists have described this award as one of the most important honors that they can receive because it comes from the people who need their help the most- people whose lives are affected by mental illness.  The criteria for these awards recognize psychiatrists who have gone the extra mile with NAMI members and have made substantial contributions to NAMI Affiliate or NAMI State Organization activities.

Rosalie Greenberg, M.D., is the author of Bipolar Kids: Helping Your Child Find Calm in the Mood Storm. She is also the co-producer of the DVD “Rescuing Childhood: Understanding Bipolar Disorders in Children and Adolescents.” She is recognized as one of the Top Doctors in Child Psychiatry in the Castle Connelly NY Metropolitan Area Guide (2001-2011), New York Magazine (2005-2011), New Jersey Monthly Magazine (2005), New Jersey Life Magazine (2006) and Inside New Jersey-A Star Ledger Magazine (2009 - 2011). Dr. Greenberg earned her medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in 1976, Adult and Child Psychiatry training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and NY State Psychiatric Unit. She is a former assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia University. Dr. Greenberg was a founding board member and past president of the Juvenile Bipolar Research Foundation (JBRF) and a past executive board member of the Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Along with being a long time NAMI member and supporter, Dr. Greenberg is a member of the AACAP, which is the leading national professional medical association for child and adolescent psychiatrists in the United States. She is on staff at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ.

Dr. Greenberg resides in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband, and is the mother of two sons.
