I am writing to endorse Rob Rubino for reelection to Common Council.  When I served on Council, Rob’s leadership skills were immediately apparent as Chair of the Board of Health.  His obvious talents caused me to encourage his continued involvement in government, and I am always pleased with the results.

Now serving Summit in his third year as a Councilman, Rob’s colleagues unanimously elected him Council President.  Anyone who has watched a Council meeting has witnessed his practical approach to solving problems.  Rob’s cost saving approaches have led to a cut in our municipal tax rate by .4% this year.  At the same time his Summit High Line initiative for an elevated rail line pedestrian park has demonstrated his vision for the future while respecting our historic past.

I am most impressed with Rob’s improvement of Summit’s relationship with Union County.  He has advocated for Summit at the Freeholders’ public meetings and has invited them to Summit’s. He even took the unprecedented step of inviting County officials to attend a Council Finance Committee meeting, which resulted in a reduction of the County tax rate from over 4% to 3% in their final budget.  He also urged them to sell Runnels Hospital, which they did for $26,000,000.

I encourage you to reelect Rob Rubino on November 4.
