School District Details Half-Day, New-to-Summit First Grade Registration Processes

SUMMIT, NJ - Registration for the Summit Public Schools' 2018-19 Half-day Kindergarten program will be held in February, with online registration now available. Applicants must be residents of Summit, be five-years-old on or before October 1, 2018, and online registration needs to be completed by January 31, 2018.

To bring supporting papers for registration, contact Eileen Mortenson at the Jefferson Primary Center 908-918-2160, ext. 6752, or Donna Schneider at the Wilson Primary Center 908-918-2175, ext. 6652, for an appointment, which will be scheduled  on February 6 and 8.

If parents are unsure of which Primary Center their child will attend, they are instructed to call either Primary Center for information.

First Grade Registration - Students New to Summit Schools

Online registration for students who will be entering first grade in September of 2018 is now open. Parents with students new to Summit Schools must create an online account and make an appointment with the school secretary to bring in residency verification documents.

Online registration is available by visiting summit.k12.nj.us. No paper registrations will be accepted

Residency verification appointments will be held February 28, March 1, and March 2 for Summit residents’ children whose sixth birthday falls on or before October 1, 2018. Residency verification will take place at the elementary school the child will attend. If a parent is not sure in which elementary school neighborhood they reside, they should call the Summit Board of Education office at 908-918-2100, ext. 3102.

Appointments are necessary for residency verification and can be made by calling each school: Brayton School, 908-273-1276; Franklin School, 908-277-2613; Jefferson School, 908-273-3807; Lincoln-Hubbard School, 908-273-1333; Washington School, 908-273-0817

All forms that are not part of the online registration must be submitted at the time of the residency verification appointment, except for the medical forms, which must be completed and submitted to the schools by June 1, 2018. However, the medical forms may be submitted at registration if they are completed by that time. Also required at registration are:

Primary Documents (Provide 1)

  • Contract of Purchase or Sale of House
  • TaxBill
  • Mortgage Statement
  • Current Lease / Deed

Secondary Documents (Provide 3)

  • Current Driver’s License
  • Utility / Water / Cable Bills
  • Current Credit Card/Bank Statement
  • Current Vehicle Insurance
  • Voter Registration Card
