Summit Boy Scout Troop 67 Troop leaders, Troop Committee members, Military and Patriots Path Council representatives, Summit Mayor Ellen Dickson, and the honoree's family and friends were among those attending Thomas Tarantino's Eagle Court of Honor held at St. Teresa's Church Memorial Hall.

The Eagle badge is the highest award given in boy scouting, and only five percent of all scouts attain the Eagle rank. Tarantino is the 80th scout in Troop 67 to earn the Eagle badge since 1951.

For his Eagle Service Project, he restored and created an Information Trail at Martin's Brook Park in Summit that included wooden signs that teach hikers about animal shelters, the park's tree species, and the history of the watershed area.
