Scouts Honor Outstanding Citizens at Good Scout Award Dinner April 25th

The Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council will be honoring local citizens at the 2013 Summit Good Scout Award Dinner. Timothy Duetsch, David Freidin, Dr. Alice Gibbons, Fred Honold, and the Summit Elks Lodge 1246 are being honored on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at The Grand Summit Hotel for their commitment to the Summit community.

The event is a way of honoring outstanding citizens who serve as exemplary role models for the youth of our area.   These recipients are chosen for their outstanding community services as evidenced by the interest and leadership they have demonstrated within the community of Summit.  They are citizens who live the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Tim Duetsch is a Summit firefighter, and locally volunteers with numerous sports teams for the youth in town; he has demonstrated how one person can make a difference. Dave Freidin is the assistant Scoutmaster of  Boy Scout Troop 67 at St. Teresa’s RC Church. He is a role model for giving back to the community.  Dr. Alice Gibbons is a physician with the Summit Medical Group. She has been actively involved in Scouting for many years and has volunteered on several Scouting committees and exemplifies how we can make our town an even better place to live and raise our children. Fred Honold has had a lifelong involvement with Summit and a dedication to Scouting. He has served on many local non-profits and now serves as President of Hometowne Television. The Summit Elks Lodge 1246 is being recognized for the many charities they have supported here in town.

Through the Good Scout Award Dinner more than $20,000 was raised last year to support all aspects of the youth programs provided by the Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council. Scouting in the Patriots’ Path Council now reaches approximately 18,000 youth in five New Jersey counties. Summit has a very active Scouting program. 320 youth enjoy Scouting through their participation in one of the ten Scouting programs available throughout Summit. Currently, there are six Cub Scout packs, two Boy Scout troops, one Venturing crew, and one Exploring post.

Is FAANG Long in the Tooth?

Investors love to rally around a stock story. Today it’s all about the FAANG stocks. Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX) and Google (GOOG) are a major reason why the S&P 500 rallied so much in 2017. Mr. Market is convinced the FAANGs are impervious to a sell-off. “Its different this time” is ringing loud and clear, but will the outcome really be that ...
