EWING, NJ - The New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership (NJEFP), a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing public education in New Jersey, has presented the Summit Educational Foundation (SEF) its first "Outstanding Education Foundation" Award.

Founded in 1986, the SEF has awarded more than $6 million in grants to the Summit Public Schools since its inception, funding a plethora of initiatives ranging from puppet theatre to technology. Since 2010, SEF grants have exceeded $3.7 million.
In presenting the SEF the Award, the NJEFP said, "SEF's comprehensive grants, community outreach and involvement have demonstrated a commitment that reached beyond the classroom walls, impacting the community and district in a multi-faceted approach."
Established in 2007, the NJEFP was founded to support and assist local foundations in their quest to provide additional funding for public schools. On its website, the NJEFP states that. "Public schools have existed to ensure participation of an educated citizenry in our democratic society. While continuing this mission, the needs of public school students have changed dramatically over the last twenty-five years. Students must be prepared to navigate through an increasingly complex world."
