ROSELLE, NJ - Senior captain Caroline Sharpe netted a Hat Trick and sophomore Lily Spinner turned away all 12 shots she faced as the second-seeded Summit High School Girls Ice Hockey Team defeated seventh-seeded Trinity Hall 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the New Jersey Interscholastic Girls Ice Hockey League (NJIGIHL) Cup playoffs at the Warinanco Skating Center.

The victory improves Summit to 8-0 on the season and takes them into the NJIGIHL semifinals. There, the Maroon and White will face sixth-seeded Kent Place School on March 3 at Warinanco. The puck will drop at 4:45 p.m.

Summit scored three times in the first period to take early command of the game. Unassisted goals from senior captains Sharpe and Maisie Hiltabrand were bracketed around Sharpe's second of the night, assisted by junior Taylor Cornell.

The Hilltopper Power Play struck twice as Summit potted three more goals in the second period to seal the deal. With a Trinity Hall player in the penalty box, Sharpe returned the first-period favor to Cornell just 48 seconds into the stanza, and it was 4-0. A pair of Summit freshmen teamed up on each the next two Hilltopper goals, with Bridget Grennon cashing in a feed from Finley Beard to make it 5-0 and then Grennon firing home again -- this time on the Power Play -- with the assist going to Abigail Zahn.

The only questions that remained in the third period were if Sharpe could bag her Hat Trick goal and Spinner and her teammates could claim the shutout.

The answers to each inter were a resounding yes.
