So You Think You Can Dance?: The Connection Celebrates National Dance Day July 25

SUMMIT, NJ - A Hilltop City dance party is about to break out, as The Connection for Women and Families is set to celebrate National Dance Day July 25.

All activities are free and open to the public, with classes for children and adults will beginning at 9 a.m.

Adult classes wil include:

- Zumba
- Jazz/Hip-Hop,
- Lyrical/Contemporary
- Ballet Basics
- Barre Sculpt. 

Children’s classes include Preschool Dance Party Class, School Aged Dance Party Class, and Tween Dance Party Class. Classes for children 3 and up will consist of a warm up, a short and fun dance routine, and dance games. Older students will learn the Official National Dance Day Routine.

Donations are welcome, with all proceeds divided between The Connection and the Dizzy Feet Foundation. The Connection's Dance Team, "The Crew," will hold a snack sale throughout the day. To view and practice the Official National Dance Day Routines, visit dizzyfeetfoundation.org.

National Dance Day Adult Class Schedule



Barre Sculpt at 9 a.m.

A low impact, dancer’s workout that integrates the fat burning format of interval training, the muscle shaping techniques of isometrics, and the elongation principles of dance conditioning.

Zumba at 10 a.m.

A fun and high energy dance/fitness class set to fun international rhythms.

Dance Team Performance at 11 a.m. 

Jazz/Hip-Hop at 11:15 a.m.

An upbeat dance class using basic but innovative styles of jazz and hip hop to pop music. No experience necessary. Students will learn the Official National Dance Day Routine.

Contemporary/Lyrical at 12:15 p.m.

A lyrical/contemporary dance class that places emphasis on the connection between mind and body, encouraging dancers to explore their emotions through dances that push against traditional boundaries. Wear jazz shoes, ballet shoes, socks, or go barefoot. Suitable for all levels.

Ballet Basics at 1:15 p.m.

A basic ballet class which will consist of exercises at the barre, in the center, and moving across the floor. All are welcome, and asked to wear ballet shoes, socks or go barefoot.

National Dance Day Children’s Class Schedule 

Dance Team Performance at 11 a.m.

All Youth Dance Classes at 11:15 a.m - 12 p.m.

Dance classes for children ages 3 and up will consist of a warm up, a short and fun dance routine and dance games. Older students will learn the Official National Dance Day Routine.

Preschool Dance Party Class, Ages 3-5

School Aged Dance Party Class, Ages 6-9

Tween Dance Party Class:, Ages 10-13
