SUMMIT, NJ -  Eleven Hilltoppers put points on the board, led by junior Will Schaffer's 15 plus a dozen rebounds, as the Summit High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team improved to 4-3 on the season with a 64-55 victory over Morris Knolls at the Main Gym.
 
Summit took a nine-point first quarter lead, only to see that reduced to just a bucket at halftime, 31-29. The third quarter was the game's turning point, as the Hilltoppers outscored the Golden Eagles 23-13 to take a 12-point cushion to the final frame.
 
From there, Summit saw out the final eight minutes to claim the win.
 
 
Gary West had eight points, Paul Flanagan chipped in seven, and both Michael Kaelin and Xavier McCormick added six apiece. Four other Hilltoppers - Wayne White, Jaden Jackson, Alex Dadourian, and Chip Roriston -- contributed four points each.
 
Summit next makes the 1,889-foot "journey" to face Oratory Prep January 7. The game tips off  at 7 p.m.
 
JV Falls; Freshman Continue to Roll, Stay Unbeaten
 
The Summit High School Boys JV Basketball team fell to the Golden Eagles of Morris Knolls, 58-34.
 
The Hilltopper Boys Freshman Team improved to 5-0 on the season with a commanding 57-19 victory over Morris Knolls. The Summit Freshman have won their last two games by a combined score of 113-37.
