June 25 Asylum Quartet Influenced by Spanish, Ethiopian, klezmer and Indian traditions, as well as commission pieces by Iranian and Turkish composers, the Asylum Quartet recently garnered the distinction of being the first saxophone quartet to ever receive the Grand Prize and Gold Medal in the International Music Ensemble Competition. Together with the ancient Japanese koto, this evening’s event will also feature a special garden walk highlighting Arboretum plants native to Asia and Japan.
