SUMMIT, NJ - St. John’s Lutheran Church in Summit will host a blood drive June 24, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The summer months, with schools closing and vacations scheduled, see less people donating blood but transfusions are still needed for local patients. Type O negative donors, considered “universal” as their blood type can be transfused to any patient in an emergency, are most in need and are always in short supply. In order to maintain a safe blood supply a seven-day inventory of all types must be continually replenished.

The first 50 donors will receive a Union Theater movie pass, and walk-ins welcome. To donate blood, call 1-800-933-2566.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 587 Springfield Avenue.
