St. John’s Lutheran Church in Summit is preparing for a merry Christmas this year. To make the most of the occasion, the people of St. John’s invite all to join in a joyful and triumphant celebration, beginning on Christmas Eve.

St. John’s celebrates Christmas Eve with two services, open to members and visitors. The first service, which is particularly appropriate for families with young children, will give the entire congregation an opportunity to become a part of the Christmas story with its “Everybody-In” Christmas pageant. The service will feature Holy Communion, music by the church handbell choir, and traditional carols accompanied a professional brass quintet. The second service will be a candlelit Festival service of Holy Communion, and will include beloved Christmas carols and music from the adult choir, accompanied by the professional brass quintet. Instrumental carols will be played in the narthex before each service.

On Christmas morning, St. John’s welcomes members and visitors alike to remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus with Holy Communion, and a service that will include a traditional telling of the Christmas story and Christmas carols at 10:30 am. To round out the Christmas season, on December 29, a congregational Service of Lessons and Carols will be offered during normal Sunday worship.

St. John’s is located at 587 Springfield Avenue in Summit. Christmas Eve services will take place on December 24 at 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Christmas morning service will be the following day, December 25, at 10:30 a.m.
