Sean McTernan, an eighth grader at Summit's Oratory Prep, has claimed first-place in Union County's 2017 Arbor Day Poetry Contest.

Sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders in cooperation with the Union County Shade Tree Advisory Board, the contest was open to students in grades 4 - 8 from schools throughout Union County. The winners were selected by a group of volunteer judges.

In accepting his award, McTernan was joined by Annie Exi from Union, won tool second place, Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski, and and Union County Freeholder Chairman Bruce H. Bergen.
