SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Lions Club will host its third annual 'Kentucky Derby Party' May 6, from 5 - 9 p.m., at the Summit Elks Club Lodge. As the Lions’ primary fundraiser, the event benefits the Lions’ charitable programs such as eye exams for Summit children and residents in need, eyeglass recycling, high school scholarships, and many other community endeavors.
The Derby Party will feature a sit-down dinner catered by LaPastaria with music and dancing throughout the night DJ’d by Summit SoundZ. The evening will also feature an expansive Silent Auction – with items priced for everyone – including shopping gift certificates, dinners, specialty gifts and more. On the cusp of Mother's Day, Henry’s Jewelry will also be on hand offering jewelry at special prices.
An event favorite -- the Wine Pull at $20 / pull -- will also be return and feature both reds and white varietals.
Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by visiting summitlionsclub.org. Tickets will also be sold at the door on the night of the event. All members of the community are invited and welcome to attend.
Noting the 2016 event raised in excess of $10,000 for worthy causes, Summit Lion Janet Russell said, “It’s a wonderful way to help our community while watching the Kentucky derby and enjoying terrific food, good music, and great fellowship.”
The event is supported by patron sponsors including Bassett Associates, Haven Savings Bank, Investors Bank, MINI of Morristown, Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial; Re/Max Achievers – The Child Group, and the Summit Elks Club. For more information contact Terri Lahr at 908-516-2629.
