SUMMIT, NJ – The Summit Area YMCA has launched a new app for mobile phones. The Summit Area YMCA mobile app provides information on schedules, programs and events for all three of its branches, including the Summit YMCA, Berkeley Heights YMCA, and the Learning Circle YMCA. Smartphone owners will now have convenient, “on-the-go” access to key details about all three branches. The new Summit Area YMCA app is free and is compatible with Apple and Android devices.

“We want to make it easier for our members to stay connected with information at their fingertips to help them better maintain healthy lifestyles,” commented Anjali McCormick, Vice President of Marketing for the Summit Area YMCA. “At the Y, our goal is to help our members live stress-free and hassle-free lives in every way, from reducing stress through exercise to providing them with information when and where they need it.”
Through its features, the Summit Area YMCA app presents key information on all three branches to mobile device users. Users can search for classes by day, time, instructor or class name with instant results to help select fitness options that work best with their interests and schedules. The app also offers updates on programs and events, as well as real-time notifications on changes in class scheduling, allowing users to remain up-to-date and to plan accordingly. A calendar feature can be used to add Y classes to to personal calendars with one touch. Additionally, a social media feature enables users to share class, program and event information through Facebook, Twitter and email to invite and exercise with friends.  “Our hope is that this mobile technology will make access to the Y easier and will keep members in-the-know. We are excited to offer the app to the community as a new, free Y service,” McCormick added.  The app is available to download by searching Summit Area YMCA, Summit YMCA, Berkeley Heights YMCA, or The Learning Circle YMCA in the app stores for Apple and Android devices.  For more information on the Summit Area YMCA mobile app, please contact Kisha Belton at 908/273-3330 x3212.
