SUMMIT, NJ - Chris Zanelli scored with just over three minutes remaining to lift the Summit High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team to a 5-4, come-from-behind win over West Morris Central.
Jay Winchell put in another strong performance with 10 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers, as Summit improved to 5-1 on the season.
The opening quarter was even, featuring long possessions by both teams. After falling behind 1:21 into the game, Summit tied it just over six minutes later it on a goal from Riley Flynn, then took the lead when John Cordrey found Charlie Guttila at 4:39.
Evan Kulpan scored unassisted to make it 3-1, but West Morris Central is a quality squad, with a win over Chatham this season on their resume, and the Wolfpack pushed back to tie the game at three, and eventually took the lead, at 4-3 with 9:06 remaining in the game.
Summit showed its own resilience by coming from behind with two goals to earn the victory. First Kulpan assisted on Flynn's second goal of the game to knot the score at 4-4, and then Zanelli won it when he found the back of the net at the 3:10 mark, with Cordrey again turning the provider.
