The Summit Democrats will present the second program in their Stand Up / Speak Out Series on Thursday, April 27 at 7pm in the Summit High School cafeteria.
Stand Up / Speak Out: Eyes on November, will focus on the 2017 elections and will feature candidates or representatives from the Democratic Gubernatorial campaigns, as well as the Democratic candidates for State Senate and Assembly, and Summit Common Council. The evening will start off with an update on the local grassroots organizations with an emphasis on how individuals can get involved.
The first program, Stand Up / Speak Out: A User’s Guide to Democracy, drew a crowd of over 150 people from Summit and surrounding towns. Moderated by Terri Tauber, the topics covered were: how to effectively communicate with your representative; an overview of some of the newer grassroots groups; and engaging youth and managing social media. The purpose was to provide tools and resources to help people who were interested in having their voices heard at all levels of government.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, go to www.SummitDemocrats.org.
