SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit Fire Department (SFD) quickly extinguished a fire in a multi-family residence at 13 North Street in Summit Sunday night December 3.

Responding to a report of fire in the residence at 8:42 p.m., upon their arrival the SFD found fire in a room on the third floor of the structure that had extended down to the second floor. Firefighters were able to effectively knock down the fire, which was declared under control at 9:02 p.m. There were no reported injuries to residents or responding firefighters.

The Summit Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Summit Police Department and the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad. Mutual aid was provided at the scene by Millburn and New Providence Fire Departments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Summit Fire Department Investigation Unit.
