SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Firefighters Thomas Penn and Matthew Lemons have graduated from the Essex County Public Safety Training Academy. Penn and Lemons were each awarded high honors from the program, which graduated 12 recruits from Essex and Union Counties fire departments.

Firefighter Penn was presented with the Academic Achievement Award, and Firefighter Lemons was recognized as the Executive Officer (XO) of the class.

The Essex County Public Safety Training Academy program is required for all newly-appointed Summit firefighters, and consists of eight weeks of basic firefighter training.
