SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 8 Sylvan Terrace March 26 at 1:11 p.m. The Summit Police Department and Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad were also dispatched due to a medical emergency at the same address.
Arriving first, the Summit Police forced open the the door and removed an injured resident. The Summit Fire Department then arrived to find smoke showing and found a fire on the second floor. Emergency Medical Services transported the patient to Overlook Medical Center.
The fire was brought under control at 1:41 p.m. No injuries to any first responders were reported.
Assisting at the scene were the Millburn, Springfield, Union and Berkeley Heights Fire Departments, while the New Providence, Westfield and Scotch Plains Fire Departments provided additional station coverage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Union County fire Investigation Unit.
