SUMMIT, NJ - The City of Summit Fire Department responded to a garage fire at 41 Waldron Avenue March 23 at 11:48 a.m., with firefighters finding fire and smoke emanating from right front corner of detached one car garage upon their arrival.
Summit Fire Department personnel used a 1 3/4” hand line to extinguish the fire, with access gained to garage and interior of the structure showing only minor extension into garage. Millburn Fire Department Engine 5-2 arrived and assisted with the overhaul.
While removing siding on garage to check for fire, one Summit firefighter suffered a wrist injury and was transported to Overlook hospital.
A Signal 11 was ordered for station coverage in Summit, with a Mutual Aid ladder truck requested to cover headquarters while Summit apparatus were working at the fire scene. Once overhaul was complete, Millburn Engine 5-2 was released.
The Summit Cause and Origin unit was requested to investigate the blaze. Once the Investigation was complete, the scene was released to property manager.
