SUMMIT, NJ - Down 17 points at the half and 20 after three quarters, the Summit High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team was unable to mount a comeback, suffering a 61-46 defeat at Rahway.

Senior captain Michael Kaelin led Hilltopper scorers with 14 points, and Gary West added seven for Summit, who saw their season record dip to 6-4.

Zion Pendleton scored a game-high 21 to pace the Indians, who also got a remarkable 21 rebounds and five assists from Edriece Patterson.

After trailing 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, Summit was thumped in the second, losing the stanza 24-12 to trail 38-21.

Rahway tacked onto their lead in the third, outscoring the Hilltoppers 15-12, upping the advantage to 20 points, and enabling them to cruise through the fourth quarter.

Summit next returns home to face Governor Livingston January 14 at the Main Gym. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
