SUMMIT, NJ - Scoreless after 40 minutes on a cold, soggy day that felt more like early December than late October, the Summit High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team put forth a toasty second-half offensive effort -- firing home three goals -- to see off New Providence 3-0 at Tatlock Park.
Scores from Keiran McKeown, Kevin Martinez and Jafeth Reyes did the damage for The Maroon & White, with Reyes adding to his prodigious goal harvest by bagging his 27th tally of the season.
Senior captain Michael Greenstein and Reyes added assists on the day. Preston Coke-Corkern, who was credited with four saves, earned the shutout in the Hilltopper goal.
Summit, now 13-6-1 on the season, next begins NJSIAA Tournament play as the seventh seed in North 2, Group 3. The Hilltoppers will face tenth-seeded Iselin-Kennedy (Woodbridge) October 29 at Tatlock Park. Match kick-off is set for 10 a.m.
