SUMMIT, NJ - The newly-founded Summit Safety Society, a club open to all students grades 9-12 with a goal of promoting safe driving in the city of Summit and beyond, recently ran a pledge drive for students and staff to not text and drive.

James Fitzsimmons, Agency Owner of the Allstate Insurance Company in Summit, sponsored the "X the Text" event providing a banner, pledge cards, ink pads, wipes, and thumb rings to remind everyone to not text and drive.

Students and staff had the opportunity to take the pledge on November 4 during all lunch periods.  A total of 225 students and staff took the pledge to not text and drive.
