SUMMIT, NJ - Nine Hilltoppers scored goals as the Summit High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team made quick work of West Windsor-Plainsboro North, 16-1, to open its NJSIAA North 2. Group 3 state tournament. The Maroon and White, seeded number one, had received a first-round bye and began play at the quarterfinal stage.

Junior Katia Carnevale struck five times, while senior captain Anna Turk had a five-point day with two goals and three assists. Summit, now 15-3 on the season, more than settled matters with an 11-1 first-half and now advances to take on fifth-seeded Roxbury May 22.

Juniors Anna Griffth and Julia Szynal each had a pair of tallies in the win, while senior captain Helen Louise Johnson, classmate Emily Paytas, junior Anna Huntley-Robertson, sophomore Kaleigh Driscoll and freshman Rileigh Meyer all found the back of the net once.

Summit's Group semifinal versus Roxbury May 22 will take place on the Upper Turf Field at Summit High School. Game time is 4 p.m.
