Summit H.S. Girls Tennis Smashes Westfield, 5-0, for Fourth Win of Young Season

SUMMIT, NJ - Two days in a row, two clean sweeps for the Summit High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team.

Twenty-four hours after hammering Morristown-Beard, 5-0, the Maroon and White returned to Union County competition and meted-out the same punishment to Westfield, winning in the identical whitewash scoreline as they did the day before against the Crimson.

First singles Mae Hoad, after a two-hour match and a second-set tiebreaker, claimed a point for Summit by winning her match 6-1, 7-6. Second singles Ali Demakos won 6-0, 6-2, as did third singles Jen Collins by a mirror score.

First doubles Eliza Rustum and Kendall Bloomfield were victorious 6-1, 6-0, while number-two doubles tandem Rebecca DelRosso and Alisha Kewalramani pounded out a a tough 6-3, 7-5 win.

The Hilltoppers are now 4-1 on the season and will next face Oak Knoll at Memorial Field September 14. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
