SUMMIT, NJ - In a meet that was essentially a dead heat the entire way, the Summit High School Gymnastics team eked out a 104.3 - 104 victory over AL Johnson at The Connection.
Training 26.825 - 26.25 after vault, the Hilltoppers put forth a strong performance on bars, with Abby Claus' 8.823 leading all competitors, followed closely by Alysia Lopez's 8.8. Ginny Collins delivers a 8.025 and Summit won the apparatus by 1.05 which, given the margin between the teams on the night, proved to be massive.
Beam was virtually a dead heat, with the Crusaders earning a .2 victory, 26.2 - 25.9. Claus and Collins finished 2-3, behind AL Johnson's Gina Ferdinandi, and the teams headed to the floor exercise with Summit leading 77.8 - 77.525.

As was the case virtually the entire meet, there wasn't much between the teams in floor exercise, with Summit's Claus and the Crusader's Ferdinandi earning joint top scores of 9.15. Lopez delivered a 9.0, and the Hilltoppers won a narrow 26.5 - 26.475 victory to close things out.
Ferdinandi claimed the All-Around with a combined score of 36.525, with Claus second at 35.625 and Lopez third with a total of 34.7.
Summit now heads to Hillsborough September 17 for a multiple team meet beginning at 9 a.m., before traveling to Union September 21 (4:30 p.m.). The Hilltoppers return home to The Connection September 26, taking on Somerville at 7 p.m.
