SUMMIT, NJ - Senior Captain and defender Evan Kulpan, and junior striker Jafeth Reyes have been named to the All-Union County Soccer First Team as selected by the Union County Coaches Association.
Kulpan was an anchor for a Hilltopper team which registered 10 clean sheets, and he also contributed three goals and two assists.
"The bedrock and foundation of our team, Evan played more minutes and was the most consistent performer since the beginning of the season. Evan’s mere presence on the pitch offered the safety and security that a coach always wants for the back line," said Head Coach Ashley Sularz.
Reyes was a handful for opposing defenders all season long, his mix of pace and touch proving lethal as he scored 18 goals and had eight assists.
"One of the most naturally gifted and raw talents that I have ever coached, Jafeth has the uncanny ability to change speeds to lure defenders in and blow by them with his quickness. He is a threat whenever he is on the pitch," said Sularz.
Under their first-year Head Coach, Summit went 15-4-3, going on a 12-match unbeaten run after starting the season 2-3. They reached the Union County semifinal, falling in penalty kicks (PK) after conceding a controversial goal -- also via a PK -- deep into stoppage time which leveled the match and forced extra time.
Summit also reached the NJSIAA sectional quarterfinals, where they lost 3-1 to Middletown North.

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
