SUMMIT, NJ - Freshman Daniel Farberov scored early in the first half and the Summit High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team made his goal stand-up the rest of the way, holding fort and defeating Cranford 1-0 at Tatlock Park.

Senior striker Owen Healy assisted on Farberov's goal, and senior captain Jake Maslin made six saves in goal as the Maroon and White improved to 2-1-1 on the season and bounced back from a tough, 2-1 setback in their previous match at Elizabeth.

Next up for Summit is a September 17 trip to Plainfield. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 4 p.m.

Girls Bag Five Goals to Outlast Union

Senior Sara Peñuela had two goals as the Summit High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team edged Union 5-4 on the Upper Turf Field.

Senior captain Keegan Mayer had a goal and two assists as Summit earned its first win of 2019. The Hiltoppers came into the match on the heels of back-to-back losses to Governor Livingston and Scotch Plains Fanwood.

Against the Farmers, junior Avery Johnson and sophomore Ashley Thomas also found the back of the net and junior captain Skye Gilbert had a pair of assists.

Summit (1-2-1) stays at home to face Union City September 14 on the Upper Turf Field. Match-time is set for 1:30 p.m.
