UNION, NJ - Junior Sarah Maldonado had 16 points and the Summit High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team got back in the win column with a 48-17 victory at Union. The Hilltoppers, who led 33-4 at the half, broke a two-game losing string and improved to 7-6 on the season.

Sophomore Laurel Zona and freshman Stephanie Sexton each added nine points for the Maroon and White.

Up 45-13 after three quarters of play, the Hilltoppers and the Farmers played a tame final frame which Union shaded 4-3. Julianna Gore led the Farmers with nine points.

The game was near-repeat of the previous meeting between the teams on January 4 in Summit, a game where The 'Top led 31-7 at the half and went on to win 45-20.

Summit now heads to Cranford for a January 23 matchup versus the Cougars. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
