SUMMIT, NJ - Senior captain Keegan Mayer, sophomore Natasha Kim and freshman Isis Ovares all scored in the opening 40 minutes and the Summit High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team won its second match on the trot, beating Union City 3-0 on the Upper Turf Field.

For Ovares, it was her first Varsity goal.

Junior captain Skye Gilbert and senior Emily Trimino added assists. Goalkeeper Melanie Aguero, in her first Varsity start, was credited with one save and earned the shutout.

Summit, now 2-2-1 on the season, stays home to next face Cranford September 17. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.

Boys Win Big in Metuchen

Senior striker Michael Bermudez had a brace of goals as the Summit High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team won 5-1 at St. Joseph of Metuchen.

Seniors Luke Rustum and Owen Turk, along with sophomore Ethan Harris, all also found the back of the net as the Hilltoppers improved to 3-1-1.

Summit next travels to Plainfield September 17 for a 4 p.m. kick.
