SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Girls Ice Hockey team, playing a complete game from the opening puck drop to the final horn, improved to 5-2 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Randolph at the Warinaco Ice Skating Center.
The Maroon & White's Sydney Cornell opened the scoring midway through the first period, then Delaney O’Dowd doubled the lead with a tally late in the first period off a sweet feed from Cecily Stabler.
After a scoreless second period, Randolph got on the scoreboard early in the third, but Kira Ross provided the insurance goal, assisted by Emma Wilde and Shannon Groskoph.
Julia Oppici, who was credited with six saves, got the win between the pipes for the Hilltoppers, who are back on the ice January 8 taking on a combined Chatham-Madison squad at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Face-off is set for 9 p.m.
