SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has awarded $11,500 in college merit-based scholarships to four graduating seniors -- Jean Carlos Carvajal, Valerie Guzman, Keurin Giron, and Emma Osborne -- that are planning further study and, through their involvement in the Summit High School community, have demonstrated a positive impact on the quality of SHS student life.
The four students were selected from among the largest applicant pool in recent history. The application process included discussing how “your actions in specific SHS sponsored academics/clubs/activities/sports programs made your school community a better place. What have you done to leave SHS a better environment for those to follow? For example, consider how you may have fostered an environment in which differences and unique perspectives are encouraged and valued, empowered others, created new opportunities for student involvement, and/or collaborated across boundaries."
Funds for the scholarship are available through the generosity of Summit High School family donations.
