SUMMIT, NJ - Summit High School (SHS) Assistant Principal Anthony Akey has resigned his position, effective Jan. 31, 2014.

Akey has been on leave since Oct. 18, and will continue to be on leave through his resignation date, meaning he will not return to the school. According to Summit Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nathan Parker, Akey has been at SHS for 25 years, and his duties encompassed scheduling, matters of discipline, and supervision of teachers.

Parker said the assistant principal position will be filled "as soon as possible," via an open posting process that will commence in the coming days.
