Summit High School music students will canvass the city on Sunday, November 14, between noon and 4 p.m., as participants in the Summit Music Parents Association's annual campaign, Pledge Day.
Dressed in concert attire, the students will solicit the community for the financial support that is vital to the school's music programs. All donations benefit the music program and are used to subsidize music trips, bring in renowned musicians to teach master classes, replace instruments, support student attendance at symphonies in New York, fund scholarships, and pay for bus trips to music festivals that showcase the students' musical talents.
Pledge Day collections last year totaled more than $20,000. This money has already paid for four timpani, master classes, and a variety of music programs during the past year and will help defray the cost of the annual high school music trip.
