SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit High School "Students for Veterans Club" dedicated the month of December to collecting much-needed personal care items and supplies for the Lyons VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ, gathering Items that included new socks, new T-shirts, new sweatshirts and sweatpants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, gel soap, shaving cream, and lip balm.

The Summit High School Student Council added a personal touch by organizing a holiday card-writing campaign, inviting students to create holiday cards thanking veterans for their service. During the month of January, the club will join forces with the Summit High School Red Cross Club to fill backpacks with personal care items for veterans.

Over the past few months, the Summit High School "Students for Veterans Club" has held a bake sale and a commemorative "Support Our Troops" T-shirt sale to raise funds that will be presented to the Summit American Legion Post 322 for distribution to various veterans' causes. Originally formed in 2015 as the Summit High School "Wounded Warrior Club," the group has been renamed and reorganized under the leadership of club president Dylan Ingerman and faculty advisor John Kratch, with the mission of supporting multiple veterans' causes.
