GARWOOD, NJ - Helen Louise Johnson and Will Vitton have been selected as Summit High School's 2018 Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (UCIAC) Scholar Athlete honorees. Johnson and Vitton and were presented the awards at the 41st Annual UCIAC Scholar-Athlete Dinner held in Garwood.  

Each high school in Union County selects one boy and one girl as their scholar-athlete representatives at the dinner. Johnson and Vitton were chosen by a panel of Summit High School coaches.

Both Johnson and Vitton are two-sport stars, with the former excelling in Soccer and Lacrosse while Vitton has been a standout performer in both Ice Hockey -- where he scored the State Championship game-winning goal -- and Lacrosse.

Johnson will be attending Stanford University in the fall, with Vitton headed to Villanova.

Each scholar-athlete received a scholarship from the UCIAC for $1,000, and an additional scholarship for books from Investors Bank of $250. The event was was a showcase for students who excel in the classroom and in the arena of competition, and is managed by Tom Lewis, Executive Director of the UCIAC.
