SUMMIT, NJ - Wrestling in the 145 lb. weight class, Summit High School senior wrestling team captain Michael Acitelli claimed the Union County Tournament crown. Acitelli was one of three Hilltopper wrestlers to reach the podium, joining senior captain Philip Angelo and classmate Danny Petrela, who took home second- and third-place honors, respectively.
Acitelli advanced to the final by blanking Owen Smith of New Providence, 8-0. In the final, Acitelli bested top-seeded Rene Perez of Roselle Park, 7-4.
Angelo, wrestling in the 138 lb. class, reached the final match, dropping a razor-thin 2-1 decision to Tom Giovanni of Cranford. Petrela won his third-place, consolation match in the 285 lb. division by pinning Raul Falar of Union.
Summit's Quinn Halper placed fifth in the 126 lb. category. Cranford took home the team title.
