SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Summit senior co-captain Catherine Singow has claimed her second straight Union County All-Around crown, defending the title she first captured in 2019. Singow finished with a total score of 36.275 and won the Beam title as well with a 9.35. She also finished second on the Floor Exercise (9.25), sixth on Vault (8.975) and seventh on Bars (8.7).

Singow has won the All-Around in every meet she has competed in this year for the Maroon and White.

The Hilltopper Team, currently ranked number-10 in the state, finished third with 105.95 points, coming in behind host and eighth-ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood (108.525) and seventh-ranked Westfield (107.05).

Due to COVID protocols, each team was limited to five named gymnasts per event plus one alternate, leaving the rest of the squad at home. In keeping with the times, it was a 'unique' meet, but The 'Top made the most of their opportunities and had a nearly flawless day overall, committing very few errors.

Junior Emma Burke finished eighth overall (34.35) and was also fourth on Floor (9.175). Senior co-Captain Margaret Griffith finished fifth on Vault with a career-high score of 9.0. Freshman Kathryn Scallon finished sixth on Floor with a career-high 9.05, and junior Mia Murdock finished 11th on Beam with a 8.825.

Seniors Isabel Claus (Vault and Bars), Emma Claus (Bars) and Charlotte Girouard (bars) were joined by freshman Jocelyn Harris (Floor) to round out the County roster.

The Hilltoppers have one more dual meet at Ridge High School on April 21.

Since the NJSIAA was unable to host a normal post-season due to capacity restrictions and the shortened timeline, there will be no Sectional or State tournament to end the non-traditional year. Instead, Summit will send its seven members of the Class of 2021 to a 'Senior Showcase' taking place April 24, where seniors from all over New Jersey will be competing for their high school teams one final time.
