SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Junior Baseball & Softball (SJBS) will present its annual 'Championship Day' -- a celebration of baseball and softball for all 870 players in its program -- June 9, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at Memorial Field.

Sponsored by Salerno Duane Auto Group, Summit Millwork & Supply, Inc., Pearly White Dentists & Cigna Insurance Company, the day features championship games for SJBS' third and fourth grade rec baseball programs as well as all-star games for the softball teams. The SJBS will provide free food and amusement activities to its players and their families.

The highlight of the day is the award ceremony where SJBS proudly announces its sportsmanship award winners, including the Detective Matthew Tarantino Award for outstanding sportsmanship to an outstanding boy from the Major League level and girl from the Fifth grade softball program.

Detective Tarantino is fondly remembered by this grade level due to his support to the D.A.R.E. program at all of the elementary schools.  Present for the award ceremony will be Summit Mayor Nora Radest and Summit Police Department Officer Keith Kwiatek.
